University of Hertfordshire – Law Court Building
De Havilland Campus, Mosquito Way, Hatfield AL10 9UF
The University of Hertfordshire Law Courts Building sits proudly on the campus in Hatfield, Hertfordshire. It is one of the largest and most innovative Law Schools in the country and has much to offer the dedicated law student. Back in November 2013 Striking Faces were excited to be invited in to the University of Hertfordshire to chat about doing a Google Maps Business View for the whole campus. The whole campus! Phew! That’s around 30 locations. This tour focuses on one small part of the university project, the very impressive Law Court Building.
We met with Ed Layt, the Head of Marketing there, and we discussed what they wanted and how we could get the maximum out of our skills and expertise. Once we had published the Google Maps Business View it became clear that the University of Hertfordshire, and the School of Law in particular would benefit from one of our newest tools, TourDash.
There really are some great features in this product, and if you check out this University of Hertfordshire tour around the Law Courts Building you will see how we have been able to use, among other things, Hotspots. Hotspots are pop-up windows that reveal additional information using images and graphics, text boxes, and video clips. This has proved invaluable for the University of Hertfordshire. Whilst Google Maps Business View enables prospective students to virtually walk round and get a feel for the layout and facilities available, Tourdash means that the hosts are able to embed relevant areas in the tour with videos and text relating to areas of interest.
One of Striking Faces’ favourite bits is being able to wander into the School of Law and explore the Replica Crown Court. This is a fascinating place, where their award-winning Advocacy activities can take place. You can read and watch more about these activities and more besides by hovering over and clicking into the Hotspots for informative text and videos.
Interesting fact no. 42: The Replica Law Courts at the University of Hertfordshire may seem familiar since they are used by the BBC for programmes such as Eastenders and Silk, being such a perfect carbon copy of a
